Kevyn and I just spent 4 days camping in Death Valley National Park with a group of CouchSurfers. We weren’t able to post photos while we went because there was no reception, but we’ll be posting the rest in the next couple of days. First up are Kevyn’s pictures from the trip (since that’s what you’ve all been dying for anyway, yes?).

Day 1:

Kevyn wanted to stop along the road for a quick photo op – and to stretch his legs during the looooong drive down.

Kevyn, about to fry in Death Valley for four days. Also, the last of our cell service for the weekend.

Kevyn is NOT a team player. He decided to chill with a Corona while the rest of us set up camp for the night.

We got into camp late and were exhausted from having gotten up at 4 a.m. to start our 8-hour trek down to the campground, so after dinner and a little bit of campfire conversation, Kevyn and I hit the hay. Kevyn’s a little afraid of the dark, so I let him keep the headlamp for the night, just in case.

Day 2:

Another camper and I went for a 3-mile run just after sunrise and then joined Kevyn and the others for breakfast. Kev was highly upset by our choice of breakfast side dishes.

This is Kevyn at Badwater Basin, 282 feet below sea level. I couldn’t find a way to get the sign in the background and him in focus. That white blob on the mountain though says “Sea Level.”

Aside from gazing at the gorgeous starlit night sky, Kevyn’s favorite part of Death Valley were the sunsets. This is the view from Dante’s Peak at sunset.

Somehow I didn’t get any other pictures of Kevyn on Day 3 and 4, probably because we were too busy hiking and then packing up to come back. So, until next time!
