Day 32 – Adornments, originally uploaded by bexadler.

Tuesday was an incredibly busy day. I got off work late and had to meet one of the guys from the office out in Davis to jump start my car that had been broken down there since Saturday. By the time I got back to my place it was already 8 p.m. and I still had some running to do for my marahon training. When all was said and done I was at home, it was 11 p.m. and I had no pictures for the day so I decided to take some photos around the house. I took this one of the dish on my bathroom counter that holds all of my earrings and other jewelery that I wear regularly. Those red hoops are on top because they’re the ones I had worn that night when I went to meet a friend for a drink. The lesson here is that I need to start thinking about my picture of the day way earlier in the day.

Day 31 – Statue at 6th and Capitol, originally uploaded by bexadler.

I was supposed to go to a River Cats game on Monday, but the 100+ heat didn’t make that seem very appealing. While waiting in line to buy our tickets, my friends and I decided to go to Morton’s late night happy hour instead and get some cheap eats. To be honest, with a reputation like Morton’s, I wasn’t even a little bit impressed with the food. Maybe that was just because it was late-night appetizers though. I don’t know. Anywho, this statue is outside the building where Morton’s is located. There’s also a super cool light display inside the building, but I didn’t take any shots of it. I think the sculpture was called “Tor.” I can’t really remember though…

Day 30 – The All-Day Brunch, originally uploaded by bexadler.

In my group of friends, we used to have a Sunday tradition of getting bloody marys and brunch to shake off the hangovers from the weekend. We called it Going to Church. We grew older, moved to different parts of the city (or out of the state – Melissa Dahl, I’m looking at you!), and took on too many responsibilities to keep Going to Church regularly. Sometimes I miss those days though, so when I do get a chance to get brunch with somebody, I definitely take the opportunity.

This Sunday was no exception. A friend and I were stranded at my place with only our bikes to get us around. In 102-degree heat, he didn’t want to make the trek all the way to his house by bike until later, so instead we decided to get some brunch at Tower Cafe (one of the best brunch menus in town). Two bloody marys in and we decided to shirk all of our responsibilities for the day and drink instead. We headed over to Hangar 17 with the promise of $5 endless mimosas in our sights, only to find out that you had to buy breakfast to get that deal, so we decided to get real drinks instead. Pictured here is my empty vodka collins. Our brunch ended up taking up the remainder of our day. Even though I didn’t really get anything done, this was one of the best Sundays I’ve had in a long time.

Day 29 – My Running Shoes, originally uploaded by bexadler.

Saturdays in my world start off with a long run in the morning. This Saturday I did 12 miles, one of my longest runs to date. And they are only going to get longer as I continue to train for the CIM coming up in December. I’m five weeks into marathon training and doing well…although my shoes are starting to look and feel a little worse for the wear. They’ve already put in 170 miles this year with plenty more miles to come. I think it may be time to start looking for their replacements…

Day 28 – Franz, originally uploaded by bexadler.

When the wine starts flowing at my house and there are Franz fans around, it usually means Franz ends up with a whole new look. For those of you who don’t know, Franz is my gay apartment mascot. He has impeccable taste and prefers a vast selection of scarves and hats to keep him looking fashionable. I’m kind of digging this new look with my most favorite scarf of all time. So chic! Um, and yes, I do realize it’s blurry. That can be credited to the wine flow mentioned above…

Day 27 – Playing with Fire, originally uploaded by bexadler.

Today Kyle and I went down to the Fire University in Davis, where there are drummers and people playing with fire. I’ve never actually done it, but it’s a cool thing to watch. This was only my second time going and I was really excited that I remembered my tripod this time though so I could get these super awesome pictures with a slow shutter speed.

Day 26 – Sushi at Kru, originally uploaded by bexadler.

I’ve been craving sushi for weeks, so Christa and I headed out to our favorite sushi spot, Zen Sushi, yesterday. Unfortunately it was closed for between 2 and 5 (we were there for a late lunch at 3:30), so we headed over to Kru instead. Usually, I avoid Kru because it’s a bit pricier than Bexadler can afford, but it was just our luck that Kru has happy hour from 4 to 6 every day. I got some delicious salmon sashimi and an awesome tempura sushi roll (the Red Lotus – spicy and delish!) for only $5 each. They also had $2 beers, but I still had a 6 mile run to do later in the afternoon so no alcohols for me. I’ll definitely be keeping Kru in mind in the future, especially if I’m craving sushi anytime between 4 and 6 p.m.
